All of our tents are made with 10.10 ounce Sunforger treated double fill marine grade canvas that is treated with fire retardant, water and mildew repellant. Please see the canvas information at the bottom of the page. Features included with all our tents are an adjustable 4", 5" or 6" stovepipe ring with a flap in the back wall, reinforced brass grommets, rope, sod cloth, nylon loops, double stitching, reinforced peaks and corners and a heavy duty tent bag.

COMPARING CANVAS:

Buying a wall tent is a substantial investment so we thought that if we included a little information about canvas it would help you make a more informed purchase. When comparing wall tents it is very important to know what type of canvas the tent is made from. There are many types of canvas that are available and they are not all equal. Heavier canvas is not better. A good analogy is comparing silk to burlap. We use Sunforger fully treated double fill, preshrunk 10.10 ounce canvas, also known as marine grade or boatshrunk, which is, without a doubt, the best for wall tents. The canvas is treated with fire retardant, water and mildew repellent and never needs retreating. It won't shrink more than 1% - 3%. There are other types of treatments available but they can increase the weight of the canvas by up to 70%. They are often applied to a cheaper single fill canvas and can inhibit the canvas from breathing. If it says 10 ounce cotton canvas before treatment then the weight will be increased after treatment. Tents that are made with any canvas other than 10.10 ounce Sunforger won't be the same quality and should be priced accordingly. Wall tents sold in Canada must be treated with fire retardant rated to CPA1-84. Be aware that many states in the U.S. aren't required to treat their canvas with fire retardant. Also, tents ordered from the U.S. have brokerage, GST and shipping charges which can add up to $200.00 or more. Although our tents are treated with water repellant we recommend using a tarp to keep the tent looking like new and also to help snow to slide off the roof. With proper care our tents will give you a lifetime of service.
